The launch of the book “Analysis of Biomass Availability for Bioelectricity Production in the Brazilian Context” marks a significant advance in the debate on energy security and decarbonization in the country. A result of a Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) project by the National Electric Energy Agency, the publication consolidates technical studies on the potential of biomass as a renewable source, bringing together experts and institutions working at the forefront of the energy transition. The event will take place on April 22, 2026, at the Rodolpho De Paoli Building in downtown Rio de Janeiro.

Biomass gains prominence in a scenario of integration between energy and carbon capture

Within the context of the project “CO₂ Capture in Bioelectricity Plants”, the book offers an in-depth analysis of biomass availability in Brazil and its viability as a large-scale energy input. The work highlights not only the technical potential of this energy source—widely distributed throughout the country—but also its capacity for integration with carbon capture technologies, expanding its role in mitigating emissions. By systematizing data and methodologies, the publication contributes to medium- and long-term energy planning, as well as providing input for public policies and investment decisions. The launch also symbolizes the conclusion of a cycle of applied research, consolidating biomass as a strategic vector in an increasingly diversified and resilient energy matrix aligned with global climate goals.
