With the acceleration of the energy transition and the emergence of new logistics chains based on hydrogen and alternative fuels, RINA announces a strategic capacity-building initiative aimed at the maritime sector. The institution is promoting two specialized courses—focused on the ISM and ISPS codes—with the goal of preparing professionals for an increasingly complex operational environment, regulated and driven by safety and sustainability criteria.
Operational safety and asset protection become pillars in the new energy logistics
The advancement of fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and e-fuels redefines technical standards and raises the level of requirements for port and maritime operations. In this context, the ISM Code (International Safety Management) gains prominence by structuring operational safety management practices and risk mitigation, while the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security) strengthens the protection of critical facilities and sensitive logistics chains.

The training courses offered by RINA — scheduled for June 1st and 2nd, in a live online format — cover everything from conceptual foundations to practical applications of these codes, allowing professionals from shipowners, shipyards, ports, and terminals to develop skills aligned with the new demands of decarbonization. By integrating technical qualification with a strategic vision, the initiative reflects a broader movement of adaptation of the maritime sector to the demands of a rapidly transforming energy economy.
