In recent years, cooperation between China and Brazil in the field of sustainable development has steadily deepened, marked by continuous progress in policy coordination and practical cooperation regarding energy transformation, ecological protection, the green economy, and other areas.
In terms of industrial trends, the global green economy is entering a phase of rapid growth. The global green industry market reached $3.5 trillion in 2025 and is projected to exceed $6 trillion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of 12%. The renewable energy sector is highly dynamic, with a clear market division across three regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas. Asia-Pacific leads the world with 46% of installed capacity; Europe stands out for its diversified technologies and high grid integration rates; while the Americas follow a distinct path, leveraging their natural resource endowments. China and Brazil exhibit strong complementarity in resources and technology, offering broad prospects for cooperation in green industries. Against this backdrop, China-Brazil cooperation is experiencing a window of unprecedented strategic opportunity.
Driven by the strengthening of green cooperation between China and Brazil, the 2026 edition of the Beijing Green Development Forum ("the Forum") featured an international promotional event in Brazil. The presentation session for the 2026 Beijing Green Development Forum was successfully held on the morning of June 18 in Rio de Janeiro. Jointly organized by the Asia Digital Group (ADG) and the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIBC), this event is part of the Forum's global promotional series. The CCIBC handled local organization in Rio de Janeiro, aiming to introduce the upcoming September event in Beijing to companies and institutions from Brazil and Latin America, while also deepening Sino-Brazilian exchange and cooperation in the green economy. Attendees included representatives from the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Economic Development, the Brazilian Hydrogen Association (ABH2), the CCIBC, the National Agriculture Society (SNA), and the Rio de Janeiro chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-RJ), alongside local business professionals. Discussions spanned sectors such as low-carbon hydrogen, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, green finance and investment, low-carbon transport and infrastructure, urban planning, and green construction. Speakers at the event included Claudia Januzzi, Coordinator of Strategic Partnerships and International Investments at the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Economic Development; Carlos Peixoto, Communications Director of the Brazilian Hydrogen Association; and Zhang Li, Co-President of the Asia Digital Group (ADG).
Focus on green transformation: discussing new opportunities for industrial cooperation

Claudia Januzzi, Coordinator of Strategic Partnerships and International Investments at the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Economic Development, stated in her speech that Brazil and China are not merely trading partners but also allies in building a sustainable future. She highlighted that the State of Rio de Janeiro possesses notable advantages in offshore wind, biomass energy, and biomethane, while China holds a global leadership position in electric vehicles, solar panels, and the circular economy. Combining the strengths of both countries will generate a powerful synergistic effect. She called for deepened cooperation in energy transition, the bioeconomy, and green finance to jointly contribute to global sustainable development.

Carlos Peixoto, a director at the Brazilian Hydrogen Association (ABH2), welcomed the Chinese delegation in his remarks. He explained that the association, founded in 2017, aims to promote the production, storage, distribution, and application of hydrogen within Brazil's value chain by bringing together companies, scientists, and industry stakeholders. He recalled an exchange event hosted by ABH2 in Rio de Janeiro in 2024—which gathered Chinese and Brazilian companies from the sector at Firjan (the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro)—and affirmed that the association is a reliable partner in Brazil, looking forward to further deepening cooperation with China in the hydrogen sector.

Zhang Li, Co-President of ADG Asia Digital Group, delivered a keynote address systematically outlining global development trends in green industries and the strategic outlook for China-Brazil green cooperation. She highlighted the vast potential for cooperation between China and Brazil in the green economy. China possesses world-leading industrial chain advantages in photovoltaics, new energy vehicles, and energy storage, while Brazil boasts unparalleled natural endowments of wind and solar resources, alongside robust technological development in the energy, biomass, and sustainable agriculture sectors. The strong complementarity between the two nations fosters the deep integration and synergistic development of green industrial chains, creating tangible market opportunities for companies from both countries.
Zhang Li also presented the general details of the Forum to the guests. The event will take place on September 17–18, 2026, in Beijing, under the theme "Green Empowerment, Low-Carbon Symbiosis." It will feature nine parallel forums, various industrial promotion activities, an extensive exhibition, and a Low-Carbon Urban Living Festival open to the public. The parallel forums will cover cutting-edge areas such as international green urban development, energy transformation and the construction of new energy systems, green finance and ESG investment, intelligent and connected new-energy vehicles, digital data-driven green science and technology, green talent, and the circular economy. Concurrently, the International Green Industry Fair (Beijing) will be held, focusing on six core pillars: zero-carbon technologies, advanced energy, digitalized energy conservation, low-carbon housing, the circular economy, and green finance. The event will serve as a high-level professional platform integrating advanced technology showcases, immersive experiences, and targeted business matchmaking.
Roundtable: Multiple pathways for cooperation in China-Brazil green transformation
The event's roundtable was themed "Jointly discussing the direction and practical achievements of green cooperation between China and Brazil" and was moderated by Li Li, Deputy Director of the Beijing Branch of the Asia Data Group. Tertius Ribeiro, Director of the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIBC); Hélio Sirimarco, Vice President of the National Agriculture Society (SNA); and Dr. Francisco Carrera, Urban Planning Coordinator for the Rio de Janeiro State Bar Association, shared their insights on China-Brazil green cooperation.

All speakers agreed that China and Brazil exhibit strong complementarity and enormous potential for cooperation within the green economy. Brazil possesses extensive experience in sustainable agriculture, biomass energy, and forest conservation, while China boasts world-leading industrial chains in photovoltaics, new energy vehicles, and energy storage. Both nations can foster practical cooperation in green technology transfer, the trade of sustainable products, and the development of low-carbon urban infrastructure. Attendees expressed high expectations for the 2026 Beijing Green Development Forum, anticipating that the event will serve as a vital platform for exchange and cooperation among green industries in China, Brazil, and the rest of the world.
During the event, Asia Digital Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIBC). The two parties will collaborate on initiatives such as organizing the Green Development Forum, facilitating international exchanges and delegation visits, promoting trade fairs and events, supporting brand internationalization and investment attraction, and conducting sector research and market consulting. These efforts aim to drive deep integration and practical cooperation between Chinese and Brazilian enterprises in the green economy and commercial investment. Additionally, ADG entered into a tripartite agreement with Green Rio Tecnologia Ltda. and the Brazil-China Creative Economy Institute (IECBC). The three entities will jointly promote institutional exchanges and cooperation between the Beijing Green Development Forum and Green Rio Tecnologia across the green economy, sustainable development, the bioeconomy, and the blue economy, thereby facilitating interaction between companies from both countries regarding green technologies, low-carbon innovation, and sustainable investments.
This promotional event marks a significant stop in the global outreach campaign for the 2026 Beijing Green Development Forum. Organized by Asia Digital Group, the Forum is scheduled to take place on September 17 and 18, 2026, in Beijing's Urban Sub-center. As part of the promotional campaign, the organizer visited several local Brazilian energy companies to exchange ideas on cooperation regarding green technologies and clean energy.
