The UK has taken a strategic step towards advancing the hydrogen economy with the launch of the UK and Northern Ireland Hydrogen Projects Map . This free-to-use resource aims to position the country as a global leader in the hydrogen value chain. The map was developed by the Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) and brings together innovative initiatives to attract investors, foster industry collaboration and create commercial opportunities in the sector.
A Strategic Resource for Hydrogen Development
The map, described as a living document , highlights the most relevant projects in the UK’s hydrogen value chain. It has been built using data submitted by HEA members and the association’s market intelligence, allowing only projects that have completed the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase or received public funding to be included.
The purpose of the resource is clear: to provide a comprehensive overview of hydrogen initiatives for investors, governments and stakeholders . In addition to highlighting pioneering projects, the map is updated regularly, ensuring that developments in the sector are tracked in real time. Companies interested in participating or correcting omissions can submit information directly to the HEA.

Ambition for Global Leadership in the Hydrogen Sector
HEA’s mission is ambitious: to make the UK the leading destination for hydrogen development, investment and innovation . To achieve this goal, the association fosters strong collaboration between stakeholders across the value chain, building strategic links with government, industry associations and international organisations.
With the roadmap, HEA aims to strengthen the hydrogen narrative as a key element of the UK’s energy transition. The association is actively working to build an enabling political and economic environment , championing hydrogen as a driver for sustainability and economic growth.
