In a strategic step to consolidate its leadership in the global energy transition, Brazil signed a Declaration of Intent with France last Friday (6/6) aimed at cooperation in the development of low-carbon hydrogen. The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of France, with a focus on promoting sustainable reindustrialization, aligned with international environmental commitments and the new low-carbon economy.

International cooperation as a vector for innovation and energy security

During the meeting, Minister Alexandre Silveira emphasized that Brazil has acted responsibly and as a leader in the climate agenda, but that international cooperation is essential to accelerate joint solutions.

The initiative includes coordinated actions within the scope of the Steering Committee of the Dialogue on Energy Transition and Strategic Minerals (DTEME), which articulates policies and regulations between the two countries. The document provides for the exchange of regulatory information, the creation of robust certification systems and the promotion of industrial and technological partnerships focused on low-emission hydrogen.

With the new legal framework for hydrogen in force in Brazil, the Declaration of Intent consolidates the country as a safe and transparent environment for investments in strategic sectors. The agreement with France not only strengthens historic diplomatic ties, but also positions Brazil at the forefront of sustainable production chains and the global energy transition.
