The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will be held in Belém, Pará, in 2025. As host, Brazil will have the unique opportunity to highlight the importance of the Amazon as a global climate regulator, promoting debates that include energy transition, climate finance and the implementation of agreements such as the Paris Agreement. However, to transform COP30 decisions into concrete actions, communication presents itself as a strategic element, capable of engaging different sectors and ensuring that climate commitments are not lost over time.
The strategic role of communication at COP30
According to the Brazilian Association of Business Communication (ABERJE), COP30 will be a milestone in efforts to care for the planet, offering a unique opportunity to position communication as an essential pillar in the implementation of climate commitments. In a scenario of global polarization, communication needs to be clear, accessible and action-oriented, promoting discourses based on scientific data and local experiences.
Before the event, it is essential to develop narratives that respect the particularities of the Amazon and engage regional communicators, ensuring diverse and authentic perspectives. During the conference, communication needs to be fast and precise, combating misinformation and promoting dialogue between governments, companies and local communities. After the event, the challenge will be to maintain ongoing engagement, with permanent channels for disseminating information and indicators to measure the impact of messages.

Communication as a bridge between science and action
Communication must connect science, public policies and social action, transforming knowledge into real change. To this end, ABERJE recommends concrete actions, such as including local communicators in the formulation of strategies, producing transparent content and creating educational campaigns that increase public awareness. In addition, it is essential to proactively combat misinformation, promoting messages that reinforce the importance of climate solutions and keep society engaged beyond the event.
