Brazil took an important step towards strengthening its global leadership in clean energy by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese state-owned company Windey Energy Technology Group and SENAI CIMATEC, during an official mission to China led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The agreement, formalized by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, aims to promote the advancement of low-carbon technologies, including energy storage, wind energy and renewable hydrogen, strengthening the foundations for a more sustainable and resilient economy.
Focus on energy storage and expansion of clean generation
Among the main points of the agreement is the development of advanced solutions for energy storage, a strategic need to stabilize the Brazilian electrical system amid the growing participation of renewable sources.
In addition, the memorandum provides for the creation of a research and development center in Brazil to advance wind energy and renewable hydrogen solutions. These technologies, considered essential for the decarbonization of the global energy matrix, will focus not only on efficiency, but also on integration with agriculture, promoting sustainable irrigation and regional development, especially in remote areas that currently face challenges in accessing clean energy.

Strategic coordination and participation in COP30
To ensure that the initiatives are aligned with Brazilian public policies, a Strategy Committee will be created, responsible for coordinating efforts and maximizing the impact of the project. The cooperation will also include studies for joint participation in COP30, which will take place in November in Belém (PA), offering a platform to share these advances with the international community.
The memorandum is initially valid for 24 months, with the possibility of extension, and includes incentives for the installation of equipment factories in Brazil, promoting job creation and strengthening the local production chain. The initiative reflects the commitment of both countries to the energy transition and the reduction of carbon emissions, in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and global climate goals.
