In response to budget cuts that threatened to compromise essential oversight and regulatory activities in the energy sector, the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Budget (MPO), secured the emergency release of R$10 million for the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP). The measure, announced this Monday (21), ensures the continuity of fundamental actions for the proper functioning of the fuel market and reinforces the government's commitment to consumer protection and sector stability.

Active Oversight and Preparation for the Fuel Sharing Auction

The budget release will allow the ANP to maintain crucial activities such as fuel quality oversight, price monitoring, market data collection, and technology investments. Furthermore, the resources will be essential for preparing for the auction of the 3rd Cycle of the Permanent Fuel Sharing Offer, scheduled to take place in October—a strategic event for oil exploration under the fuel sharing regime, which involves areas with high production potential in the pre-salt layer.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy's (MME) specific action highlights its ongoing agenda of regulatory balance, transparency in the energy market, and the continuity of public policies that support the energy transition, supply security, and investment attraction in the sector. The ministry also reaffirmed that it will continue working to ensure the full functioning of the ANP and other regulatory agencies linked to the energy and mining sectors.
