With Brazil in the spotlight as one of the main emerging hubs of the new green economy, Hydrogen Expo South America 2025 reinforced its position as the largest and most comprehensive event in Latin America focused on the hydrogen production chain. Held on the 11th and 12th at ExpoMag, in Rio de Janeiro, the meeting brought together industry leaders, public policy makers and national and foreign investors around a crucial theme: the decarbonization of the global energy matrix through low-carbon hydrogen.
Technology, market and geopolitics: hydrogen as a strategic vector
The event combined a B2B trade fair — with the presentation of cutting-edge technologies in hydrogen production, transportation, storage and use — and a series of conferences with experts and influencers who outlined the future scenarios of this rapidly expanding industry.
More than 3,500 visitors circulated through the Expo, while around 800 congressmen followed the strategic debates. Brazil was presented as a power in the making. According to projections by BNDES and the International Energy Agency (IEA), the country could meet up to 5% of global demand for sustainable hydrogen by 2040 — a milestone that would position it among the world's leading exporters.
The 2025 edition also highlighted the synergy between the hydrogen chain and carbon capture and storage technologies, in an integrated effort for decarbonization solutions. The Expo demonstrated that Brazil is not only following the global energy revolution, but is also part of it as a strategic, competitive and visionary player.
