A new tool from the International Energy Agency (IEA) expands transparency and access to strategic information about the hydrogen economy. The Hydrogen Tracker gathers project-level data on low-emission hydrogen production, infrastructure, and public policies, enabling the analysis of regional costs and trends through 2030. The initiative complements the Global Hydrogen Review 2025 and is establishing itself as an essential resource for governments, companies, and investors seeking to monitor the expansion of this market.

The tool gathers data on hydrogen projects, costs, and policies on a global scale.

The tracker provides access to information on transmission pipelines, underground storage, and announced projects, in addition to exploring historical data and future prospects for hydrogen production in different regions and technology pathways. Among its features, it allows for the assessment of current costs and estimation of their evolution through the end of the decade, providing a consistent overview to guide investments and strategic decisions.

In addition to the technical and economic dimensions, the tool provides a detailed mapping of public policies: more than 1,000 initiatives announced or implemented since 2020 worldwide are recorded. Thus, the tracker not only consolidates information on emerging infrastructure but also highlights the regulatory and institutional advances that support the global energy transition based on low-emission hydrogen.
