With an investment of R$ 100 million, Rio Grande do Sul consolidates the first state program to promote industrial decarbonization in the country, aimed at creating a low-carbon hydrogen production chain. The final result of the Public Call for Proposals for the Green Hydrogen Production Chain Development Program, announced last Friday (31) by Governor Eduardo Leite at Palácio Piratini, marks a decisive step in the Rio Grande do Sul strategy for energy transition and sustainable innovation. The initiative is coordinated by the Secretariat of Environment and Infrastructure (Sema) and the Civil House, with financing from Badesul, and integrates the Rio Grande Plan and the Economic, Inclusive and Sustainable Development Plan, reaffirming the State's commitment to climate neutrality and low-carbon industrial competitiveness.

Selected projects boost industry, innovation and circular economy

Among the selected projects, four proposals stand out that combine technology, sustainability and regional impact. Amber Sul Energia S/A will implement a solar-powered hydrogen industrial plant in Candiota.

Tramontina, in Carlos Barbosa, will build a 1.25 MW plant to supply forklifts and industrial furnaces with hydrogen, eliminating almost 100 tons of annual emissions. Be8 Energy, in Passo Fundo, will test the use of hydrogen in extra-heavy trucks, using ethanol, with an investment of R$ 38.7 million.

Finally, Rodoplast, in Vacaria, will integrate green hydrogen production into urban solid waste management, transforming environmental liabilities into clean energy and promoting a circular economy.
