A study developed at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) presents a detailed analysis of the renewable hydrogen value chain in Brazil, highlighting its strategic importance for the transition to a low-carbon energy matrix. The research, conducted from the perspective of public and private organizations, contextualizes sustainable hydrogen within the national and international scenario, highlighting the favorable conditions the country possesses to excel in this expanding sector.

Integrated approach reveals competitive potential and challenges of the H2 economy

The work emphasizes that low-carbon hydrogen—produced by water electrolysis using electricity from renewable sources such as solar and wind—has become a central element in global decarbonization strategies, in line with the greenhouse gas reduction targets established in the Paris Agreement. The analysis outlines everything from the governmental context to the current competitive advantages and limitations, focusing on the role of public and private actors throughout the hydrogen production, distribution, and use cycle.
