A new report released by a coalition of major companies in the energy, transportation, and technology sectors proposes a detailed path to consolidate the United States' leadership in the emerging hydrogen economy. The document, developed in collaboration with the consulting firm McKinsey and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), offers a comprehensive vision of how the country can expand its energy leadership and strengthen the transition to a cleaner, safer, and more competitive energy matrix.

Hydrogen as the cornerstone of the new American energy matrix

The Roadmap for a Hydrogen Economy in the US highlights the multifunctional role of hydrogen—capable of integrating renewable energy systems, storing and transporting energy, as well as serving as fuel for transportation, heating, and industrial processes. The plan emphasizes that by expanding the use of hydrogen, the US can reduce emissions, increase energy security, and boost the green economy.

Currently, the country already hosts more than half of the world's fleet of fuel cell vehicles, approximately 25,000 industrial hydrogen-powered vehicles, and more than 8,000 small-scale systems in operation. The initiative is led by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA), which brings together companies and institutions committed to accelerating the development of clean technologies and consolidating the United States' position at the forefront of the global energy transition.
