Professor Antonio Bruno de Vasconcelos Leitão, of the Mechanical Engineering Program at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), had an article published in the prestigious *International Journal of Hydrogen Energy* (IJHE), solidifying the presence of Brazilian research in one of the most advanced debates on energy and sustainability. The work, conducted during his postdoctoral studies at the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA), deepens knowledge of hydrogen-powered aircraft propulsion systems, a crucial topic for global emissions reduction in the aviation sector.

International Collaboration Expands the Frontiers of Clean Energy Research

The study, titled "A Review of Hydrogen Aircraft Propulsion Systems: Recent Advances and Environmental Perspectives," was developed in partnership with Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, Texas A&M University in the United States, and researchers from ITA. The publication brings together recent advances and analyzes the environmental perspectives of using hydrogen as an aircraft fuel, reinforcing its relevance to global decarbonization goals.

In addition to contributing to science, the project strengthens academic training and cooperation between Brazilian and foreign institutions. The partnership between UFPI and ITA is already fostering new talent: two UFPI Mechanical Engineering students are participating in scientific initiations linked to ITA, demonstrating how the integration of research and teaching can prepare professionals for the challenges of the energy transition and technological innovation.
